On August 26, 2026, a devastating flash flood struck Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts, displacing families and destroying homes, schools, and livelihoods overnight. United Community Nepal (UniCoN) mobilized immediately, working hand-in-hand with local disaster response committees and government authorities to reach affected communities with emergency relief — and we’re staying to help them rebuild.
What We’re Doing
- Emergency Food Support – Providing food supplies to families who lost everything in the flood
- Children’s Education – Distributing emergency school materials so children can continue learning without interruption
- Nutrition & Hygiene – Supporting mothers and children with proper nutrition, hygiene kits, and essential supplies
- Long-Term Recovery – Establishing a learning and recreation space to help children heal, rebuild routine, and return to school with confidence
On the Ground: Shree Bageshwori School
We reached 400 children at Shree Bageshwori School in Galchhi-6, Baireni, Dhading – a school serving families of daily-wage laborers –
with notebooks, hygiene kits, and school supplies. Just after distribution, a fresh flood warning forced teachers to evacuate students to safety. The children were safe, but the very supplies we had just given them were swept away. We’re now working to replace them again, so no child has to fall further behind because of this disaster.

Our response is built in two phases: first, meeting urgent needs — food, hygiene, and essential supplies for children and mothers. Second, establishing a safe space for children to continue learning, process what they’ve been through, and prepare to return to school.
